President's
Message
The last 12 months have been an incredible experience for me. This month
ends my term as President of PPGF. It has been a pleasure and an honor to
have served you. Thank you all for your support. I will remember this year
as being the most rewarding of my profession which reminds me of why I got
into this profession.
I was born in a small town called Penne, located in the east central
part of Italy. We had a population of 15 thousand people and we had 82 churches.
As a small boy, I was always fascinated by the paintings on the church walls,
especially the light and the expressions on each face that intrigued my
mind and my soul. Art was and is in every corner.
At age 15, I decided to travel to a bigger city. First, I went to Milan
in the north of Italy, and then to Rome where I remained for 5 years. The
beauty of Rome was incredible and my favorite past-time was to visit the
museums and monuments. This is where I learned to be a photographer, first
as a darkroom technician during the day and as a paparazzi or night club
photographer at night. It was a great experience as I learned my trade.
In the following years, I traveled all over Europe, parts of Africa,
the United States, and Canada, working as a photographer. This journey ends
with me serving as your President. Thank you.
Ciao,
Giancarlo |
