 President's Message

The PPGF is supported in two ways, you, our members and companies that feel that their involvement with the PPGF will be a wise business decision. The bottom line is that the PPGF provides for a circle of support that helps everyone.

Your PPGF provides for a wealth of information as it develops in the world of Professional Photography as well as an extremely beneficial venue for each of us to gather with other professionals in our field. We learn from each other in what is the friendliest form of competition in any line of work. The more members we have and the more active each member is, the greater the gain for everyone involved. It's in every ones best interest to promote the PPGF to bring in more members.

The second way the PPGF is supported is by businesses in the Photographic world. Companies like Album Crafters, Album King & Zookbinders, Digital Technology Group and Pro Angle Photo have figured out that our membership of Professional Photographers is where they find their most desired customers. These sponsors are willing to pay to support the PPGF to keep their names in front of you and me, the PPGF members. What can we do to complete the circle? Use these PPGF supporting companies of course. If you need Epson or Kodak printer supplies? DTG has great prices and service. A new lens or lighting gear? Pro Angle offers mail order prices and you can save with next day delivery at ground shipping since they are local. If you have ever been on the fence about which new Digital SLR to buy, or which lens handles better, you can drive to DTG or Pro Angle and try it, yes, shoot, handle and make the best decision for you based on your first hand experience, not from what you have been reading on the web, written by who knows? And, if after a day or two that lens is not exactly what you expected, go exchange it.

Album Crafters also can deliver the finest albums quickly, again because you eliminate a full week in shipping time. Album King is another album builder that offers quality books at great prices.

I know most of us, when shopping for a new piece of equipment first think of B&H or Calumet, or the local Ritz/Wolf store but let's not forget that in addition to great pricing and service, these local supportors of the PPGF kick back to you in the form of speaker, sponsorship, door prizes and advertising.

Jon Laye

February Program by Jon Laye

Many thanks to PPGF President, Jon Laye, for filling in a presenting his program entitled "Productivity in Photoshop". Jon's program demonstrated how by using Photoshop Actions, many of the routine task that digital photographers preform can be completed automatically, as Jon says, "while you sleep."

January Raw Print Competition

The winners of the January Raw Print Competition were Willie Hill, Jr. in the Film Category, and Magaly Alvarado in the Digital Category. The accompanying image is taken at the Spanish Monastary by Magaly. Congratulations to Willie and Magaly.
