June 2007

President's Message

Talk  Around The Guild

2nd Annual Family Picnic:  With so much rain predicted for South Florida during the days leading up to the picnic, I really wondered if this year’s event would get off the ground. So, with regular mail and email invitations sent to over 100 members/non-members and a fully catered BBQ menu from Scruby’s on tap, the stage was set for a great time with fellow photographers and family.

Well, if you attended the picnic you know that the weather was no factor.  In fact, it was one of the most beautiful days we’ve experienced in South Florida amidst this year’s drought.  In addition, much like our monthly meetings lots of new faces were present, too.  This is a sign that the Guild is alive and well and reaching our photographic community.  I want to extend my thanks to the Executive Board for making this event a success.  My biggest thank goes to Album King (www.albumking.com) for their generous financial support.  This is the second year Album King has sponsored the picnic and we appreciate their partnership with PPGF.  I look forward to a long relationship with Album King and encourage members to patronize this vendor whenever possible.

More Space:  Simply stated – we need it.  This is a wonderful problem for any organization to have when it is seeking to grow and make an impact on its community. As President, it is encouraging to me knowing that we are consistently having high attendance at monthly meetings.  I further feel that the Guild should heighten its members’ experiences so that they feel excited about supporting the programs and events scheduled throughout the year.  For several months we’ve had standing room only during a few meetings and the Executive Boards is seeking to remedy this problem.  There is a diligent search to find a suitable location that will allow us to continue to grow while giving our speakers sufficient space to conduct their training sessions.

I am asking every current member to assist us in solving this problem.  If you know of any location within the Broward/Dade counties, please contact me at hillpics1@bellsouth.net.  You can also pass along any information you have to other board members.

Upcoming Training Sessions:  We’ve had some great training sessions this year, but the June/July sessions will be two that you don’t want to miss.  Check out the information on these programs at www.ppgf.com and make a note on your personal calendar to be present.  Seating is becoming limited at guild meetings and you want to arrive early so that you get a choice seat.

 Enjoy!

 Willie Hill, President

Thank You, Album King!
