 President's Message

Wow!!!

If you missed the May training seminar featuring Andy Marcus, then you missed one of the most highly attended sessions the guild has experienced. My hat goes off to the efficient work of the Executive Board who help made this program a giant success. My biggest compliment, however, goes to those guild members who did a lot of "word-of-mouth" advertising, who invited a friend, and who showed their support by being present. With this type of partnering between the Executive Board and guild members I believe we have found an advertisement formula that we can utilize to guarantee that future seminars will be equally attended.

I especially want to thank the team of Andy Marcus, Robert Schneider (Vice President of Leather Craftsman), and Sales Rep David Willis for putting on a program that was beneficial to the 76-78 guests who attended. I paid particular attention during Andy's presentation to see how guests were responding to his program. I must say everyone was engaged and eager to tap into his knowledge and experience. During the 15 minutes break Andy and his sponsor were swamped with questions and discussions. I believe those attending got their money's worth and Andy and his sponsors were please with the attendance.

Last, but not least on my list of "thank you", I want to thank the Tampa Guild and FPP. In order for PPGF to blank the state with advertisement about Andy's program in Fort Lauderdale, The Tampa Guild footed the bill for allowing us to piggyback off their program that Andy gave prior to speaking to us. We were blessed to have had two other partners in the scheme of things to generously help PPGF maintain its presence in professional circles. I know for a fact that their kindness toward helping our guild will return to them ten fold.

Finally, I am always pleased to see what happens when you get a bunch of photographers together. Sharing. That's why we have our training sessions: to learn and to share. Here's an example. Immediately at the break a photographer approached me about a problem he was having with his digital camera. It so happened I knew a photographer who had just resolved the same issue with his camera, so I introduced the two to each other. They chatted the entire break time. I personally made friends with two photography students from the Art Institute and days later interviewed one of them and invited her to join my staff.

The benefits of meeting once a month to hear a speaker on your favorite subject are enormous. However, if you come just for the knowledge then you missing the greatest benefit: Building new relationships and nurturing old ones. As the old adage says, "Membership has it privileges". Add to those words the idea that you're going to freely share what you know with someone who could use your knowledge, and you've got something that we all seek from each other. Friendship.

Enjoy!

Willie L. Hill, Jr., President PPGF

Their strong loyalty spans generations and is derived from an ethic of non-compromising quality and customized service. Andy combines the best of great posed photography and exciting photojournalism to give his clients the most unique, thorough wedding coverage in the country today.
