August marks the month of the Inter-Guild competition
between the West Palm Beach Guild and the Miami Guild. Historically, the
competition has been spirited, featuring the works of some of the best photographers
in the State.
The deadline for submitting entries is 7:00 pm.
Come out and represent your Guild. We need to present our best images because
it is certain that the Palm Beach photographers will bring theres.
We hope to see you there.

to publish the names of these applicants and will vote to accept these applicants
as Active Members at the next board meeting.
Also, welcome Joe Gallegher back to PPGF. Joe has been away for the last
couple of years but is currently enthusiastic about participating regularly

President's Message
Print competition helps
to make us better photographers. It causes us to pay attention to the details
which allow us to perfect our craft. It is always nice when our images win
ribbons. But more important is the impact that competition has on the images
that we will create in the future.
We have been blessed in the past with great judges. They go to a tremendous
amount of effort to serve as our judges. They give of themselves selflessly,
often providing critique for anyone who request it. This month's competition
is no different. Our judges will be Al Gordon, Michael Landes, and Jerry
Perkins.
I want to thank these gentlemen in advance. Truely, we could not have
quality print conpetions without their dedication. I thank you and the membership
thanks you.

June Program - Suzanne Maitland
Many thanks to Suzanne Maitland, from Marietta, Georgia, for the informative
presentation last month. Suzanne's approach to shooting school portraits
is innovative and this is reflected in the photographs that she delivers
to her customers.
Suzanne also left us with a pearl of knowledge. She revealed how she
is growing her business by holding exhibits in local retail stores. As it
turns out, getting permission for a store to set up an exhibit may be easier
than you might think - if you pick the "right" store.
Membership Chairperson, DeeDee Rowe also thought exhibits would be a
good way for Guild members to promote their businesses. She is currently
having discussions with a national retail chain to allow our members to
display their work in their stores. Stay tuned for more information.
Notice To Members - Darlene Rowe, Membership
Chairperson
New telephone number, email, website address? Send member updates to
Membership Chairperson, Dee
Dee Rowe. Also, send your areas of specialty for our new Member Referral
Program. One of the best sources of referrals is our fellow Guild members.
If you receive an inquiry for a date that you are already booked for, a
type of job that you do not do, a job that just does not fit you for one
reason or another, refer the prospective client to another Guild Member.
We have a great group of photographers here and we should refer, refer,
and refer...
Please bring a stack of business cards to our next meeting. On the back
of each card write the top three types of work that you do. For example,
weddings, business portraits, commercial, etc... Pass out the cards to every
photograph you see at the next meeting. See you there! |
