Creating prize-winning competition prints is both an art (yours) and a science. Your enlargements must meet rules requirements, be specially corrected for the bright viewing lighting and be set up and presented to impress the judges.

This valuable seminar is designed to help you choose which images to display and then coach you in how to best lay out and produce your enlargements for competitions at the local, state and national levels.

· Tom Collins, Jon Laye & Tracey Arendt will go over tips on how to go about competing and help you decide which of your images are the most likely to score the highest points.

· Dale Laboratories will make up to eight (8) 8" x 10" or 8" x 12" enlargements of your images at no charge so that you will be able to evaluate your pictures with Tracey and Tom before you actually commit to making 16" x 20" competition prints.

· Tom, Jon, Tracey and Dale Farkas (Dale Laboratories' owner) along with the Dale Laboratories' staff will help you design and set up your 16" x 20" competition prints and then make the enlargements while you are at the seminar.

We expect anywhere from 12 to 20 people to attend this first-ever seminar. That's a lot of people's work to turn out in a short time. So, we'll need your cooperation.

Here's what you'll need to do to participate and get your competition enlargements:

1) Be sure you've sent your RSVP to:

2) Submit you images for the complimentary 8" x 12" prints in advance to Dale Laboratories via their ROES online ordering system. Your images must be received at the lab the end of business on Tuesday July 6th.

Here's what you'll need to do to submit your images to Dale Laboratories for enlargements:

1) If you are not already using Dale Laboratories ROES system please download their free software at www.softworksroes.com/ROES/labs/Dale/index.html .

2) Fill in the Customer Information window that pops up when you first open the software. You can leave "newuser" as your Customer ID # unless you already have a Dale ID # from over-the-counter orders you've placed with Dale.

3) Open up either the Lustre lab corrected or studio corrected catalogs and click on the Enlargements tab. Depending on the size ratio of your image(s) choose either an 8" x 10" or 8" x 12" template. Drag up to 8 of your images into the templates, clicking Add to Order after each one.

Note: Your JPEG file resolution must be high enough so that you can make enlargements for the competition prints. So, use the native resolution of your camera file at a 10 quality level in Photoshop. Please do not submit RAW or TIFF files. Only JPEGs will be accepted and all submissions for the free prints must be made online via ROES. (The lab will charge a $10 set-up fee for images brought in on CDs.)

4) On the Order Review page you will see a button marked Instructions...Please indicate that these are complimentary PPGF 8" x 10" and 8" x 12" prints for the seminar. Click the radio button for Pick Up at Lab.

Your prints will be waiting for you at the laboratory on July 7th. You will use them for Tracey's and Tom's critique. The prints will be yours to take with you, compliments of Dale Laboratories.

Costs for competition enlargements:

There will be a cost to you for any big enlargements you choose to make. However, charges will be for the economy 16" x 20" studio corrected Design Your Own enlargements (rather than lab corrected), giving you an excellent, competitive lab price. Mounting will be optional, as some photographers choose to do their own mounting.

You will be able to take unmounted prints home with you. Mounted prints will take an additional day or two.
